POSITION: Fishwheel and Creel Survey Technician
DEPARTMENT: Kitsumkalum Fish and Wildlife
WORK SCHEDULE: 8:00a.m. – 4:00p.m. Mon-Fri (hours may vary; during season; some evenings, and weekends and holidays)
STATUS: Part-time Seasonal (June to September 2024)
Job Description:
• Record daily fishwheel catch & data entry
• Interview anglers and record interview data
• Bio sampling
• Identify fish species
• Dip net fish from fishwheel holding tanks
• Transport fish in totes to landing site and/or community members
• Clean fish, if necessary
• Maintain boat/equipment
• Working in and around the Skeena River in all weather conditions
Qualifications:
• No certificates necessary, orientation/training will start in June
• Physically fit, ability to walk on uneven terrain, stand/walk for long periods
Assets:
• Driver’s License
• OFA level 1, 2 or 3
• Swiftwater Rescue
• Jet Boat Safety certification
• SVOP
• Previous field experience
Salary: Discussed upon hiring
