BE BEAR AWARE – REPORT WILDLIFE SIGHTINGS

It’s that time of the year! Please be bear aware and follow these tips below while you’re outside and around the area:

Organic and garbage bags should be kept inside until the morning of collection to ensure it’s not luring any wild animals into the community and bins should be collected and rinsed as soon as possible. Do not place out the night before.

Be aware of your surroundings when out, talk to your children about wildlife precautions and keep your animals safe inside.
• Make noises as you go
• Do not wear headphones – ensure you’re able to hear your surroundings
• Never approach the wildlife – give it space, never allow your dog to chase after it to avoid injury
• Back away slowly, NEVER run
• Never feed wildlife, remember fed is dead – food conditioned animals are more likely to come into conflict
• Keep barbeques clean and odor free
