Kitsumkalum Dual Fishery 2025
The Kitsumkalum Band would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to all the Kitsumkalum members that took part in our first In-River Dual Fishery this summer!
There was a great effort of collaboration with staff, community members and Ron Bartlett, to make this happen!
Thank you to the members that successfully completed a weeklong training with Ecotrust to become certified catch monitors!
Thank you to all the community members that participated in our Net Mending and Jet Boat Safety courses prior to the fishing season, everyone was successful in hanging their own net to take home and everyone passed their jet boat safety course!
And it is our pleasure to inform you that with some delays in getting our license approved by DFO, causing a later start, the season was successful. Our fishermen did exceptional, and overall, the operation went well and many Kitsumkalum members were so grateful to receive their FSC fish, in total there was 1034 fish distributed to the community from Prince Rupert to Terrace. Thank you all for all your hard work and time! We look forward to next season!
For more information regarding the upcoming 2026 season, please reach out to Kitsumkalum Fish and Wildlife at 250-635-5000 or troberts@kitsumkalum.com.
Sincerely,
