- North Coast, including smaller streams around Stewart, Gitlax̱t’aamiks (New Aiyansh), Terrace, Prince Rupert, Kitimat, and nearby communities
- Central Coast, including streams near Bella Coola, Rivers Inlet, and other coastal communities
Weather Overview:
- A series of fall storms are bringing heavy rain to the coast.
- From Sept 19–20, some areas received 80–100 mm of rain.
- Another storm is expected on Monday (Sept 22) with 50–90 mm of rain in many areas and possibly over 150 mm in some spots.
- This storm may also affect the Boundary Range area, especially on the BC side.
River Conditions:
- Rivers are rising after a dry summer and recent heavy rain.
- Smaller streams, which react quickly to rain, may see sharp increases in flow.
- High water levels are expected to continue rising into early next week.
- Activities like fishing, hunting, and recreation near rivers may be more dangerous right now.
- Fast-moving water poses serious safety risks, especially in smaller, ungauged streams.
