Elementary Teacher – Grades 3/4

Location: ‘Na Aksa Gyilak’yoo School, Kitsumkalum, BC

‘Na Aksa Gyilak’yoo School is seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to fill a combined role as a K–4 Literacy Teacher (.4 FTE) and Grade 3/4 Classroom Teacher (.6 FTE). The successful candidate will support student learning through engaging instruction while incorporating Tsimshian language and culture into daily classroom practice.

Key Responsibilities

Literacy (K–4) – .4 FTE

• Deliver engaging literacy instruction across multiple grade levels.
• Support reading, writing, speaking, and listening skill development.
• Collaborate with staff on school-wide literacy initiatives.
• Use assessment data to guide instruction and student growth.

Grade 3/4 Classroom – .6 FTE

• Teach core subjects, including science, social studies, and art.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
• Participate in ongoing assessment and intervention to support student success.

Qualifications

• Valid BC Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certification.
• Experience teaching at the elementary level.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Tsimshian language and culture.
• Commitment to Indigenous education and reconciliation
