Re: Kitimat Airshed Group Society, Community Wood Smoke Reduction Program
Dear Kitsumkalum Band,
The Kitimat Airshed Group Society (KAG) is pleased to inform you that we are offering the Community Wood Smoke Reduction Program (CWSRP) to the residents of the Kitimat-Terrace Valley Airshed. The program’s purpose is to lower fine particulate matter (PM 2.5) emissions in households and the airshed. Research shows that new appliances significantly reduce harmful emissions, which benefits all airshed residents.

The program is funded by BC Lung and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy. KAG will offer rebates ranging from $500 – $1000 when replacing an uncertified appliance with either an EPA or SCA-approved wood stove, pellet stove, or heat pump. Residents can apply through KAG’s website application form or contact KAG’s secretariat for a PDF version of the application.

The CWSRP is now open for applications. The Kitimat Airshed Group Society looks forward to the positive impact the program will have on our airshed.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Brittany Bayne
