Good day, we at Kitsumkalum health have started doing something once a week for the month of September rather then just 1 day out of the month.
Sept 3, 2025 – We will have a “Fire burning ceremony” at 1:00 pm behind the Health Centre.
Sept 11, 2025 – ”Drop in at the Health Centre” finger food available to support our members who are survivors of “Residential school” and to their loved ones who feel the impacts still today.
Sept 15, 2025 – We have a little surprise for our Elders only {more information to come}.
Sept 24,2025 – Elders luncheon.
Over the two years we have had community members leave their handprint in orange on a mini canvas and for the month of September we have the color theme “Orange” and the handprints will be placed all over our health centre.
When recognize that the Elders and some community members will be traveling on Sept 28 – Oct 3, 2025, for the Elders gathering in Edmonton.
So, we encourage each of you to feel free to stop in at the Health Centre, and if you want you can leave a handprint for us to leave on display.
The reason we thought the handprint is because it represents us! “That every child matters”. Let’s not just think of it as 1 day because we all feel the impacts of the trauma that “Residential School and Racism” has left on all of us.
Sincerely
Mrs. Charlene Webb
Kitsumkalum Health Director
