Pontoon Creek Wildfire Information – Update
As of 3:46 p.m. on July 16, 2024, Kitsumkalum Band and the RDKS were informed by BC Wildfire Service that the Pontoon Creek Wildfire #R50969, located near the south end of Kitsumkalum Lake, is under control.
Fire activity has been greatly diminished, and crews are establishing a hoselay around the fire to allow for water delivery along the entire perimeter. The previously closed campgrounds in the area (Hart Farm Recreation Site, Kitsumkalum Provincial Park (Goat Creek), Red Sand Lake Recreation Site, and Ackerman Point Recreation Site) are now open.
We would like to remind the public to please be cautious in forested areas, and that there is still a province-wide ban
on campfires. For the latest information, please visit BC Wildfire Service online at BC Wildfire Service
