The Kitsumkalum Fish & Wildlife department is posting the FSC Catch Monitor project. Two field technician positions are needed for the 2023 – 2024 season.
Job Description
- Program operation is mid- May to mid- September
- Two part-time seasonal field technician positions
- Scheduled travel along Highway 16 West, Terrace to Kwinitsa River confluence
- Monitor and record FSC salmon harvest and effort along the Lower Skeena River
- Both crew members will collect data, and share data responsibility
- 5 field days per week
- Starting wage is $20.90 an hour
Qualifications
- Grade 12 completion of highschool
- Post-secondary education an asset
- Previous fisheries monitoring experience is an asset
- Data collection experience
- Communication skills
- Valid Class 5 BC Drivers Licence
- First Aid OFA Level 1
- Swift Water Technician Level 1
- MED A-3
- Physically fit, good health
- Ability to work safely in all types of weather conditions
- Safely conduct work on and around moving water
Duties
- Ability to follow direction, from management
- Ability to effectively work on own with associate technician
- Safely and respectfully interact with, Kitsumkalum staff, FSC harvesters and public
- Ability to work flexible hours and days
- Record data collected on- site
- Submit completed data to project supervisor weekly
- Respect Kitsumkalum machinery and equipment
- Record daily mileage, fuel expenditures and safety forms
