Purpose of the job:

Amanii Txa’niis gyet, is responsible for providing advocacy, day-to-day home visits, and support to Band
and Community Members. Using a holistic approach to support the members through the 5
components of the program; Mental Health, Child Development, Parenting, Healthy Babies and Injury
Preventions.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Work Collaboratively with Health Centre Staff and allied Health Care Providers advocate and support
    Community Members accessing services, maintain confidential and accurate up to date client files
  • Assisting Clients with Patient Travel paperwork and advocative for support
  • Maintain Monthly, Yearly reports and Yearly Workplan
  • Plan for and facilitate one-on-one visits (site/home/outreach)
  • Participate in staff meeting, and community events
  • Organize group sessions, including planning, preparing, facilitating, cooking and cleanup.
  • Delivering a culturally sensitive manner to support parents/care givers to develop their parenting skills
  • Engaging with youth, community members and elders to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of
    the program, including the preparation for activities utilizing a home vising approach
  • Maintain a high ethical standard regarding the person’s served right to be treated with dignity and
    respect.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor
  • Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently/as part of a
    team, prioritize the workload, keep professional judgment, empathy, tact, and integrity
  • Must be flexible, adaptable and able to accept change as the program evolves

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Social Work Certificate or equivalent
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Search
  • Class 5 BC driver’s license
  • Valid First Aide Certificate and CPR (willingness to maintain certification)
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Knowledge of First Nations culture and traditions
  • Provide a copy of driver’s license abstract
