Sigidmna’ax is the Sm’algya̱x word for matriarch, chief woman or honoured woman. As a Ts’msyen Galts’ap, Kitsumkalum has been a matrilineal society since time immemorial. Today, and everyday, Kitsumkalum celebrates and honours sigidmna’ax.
