We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former colleague, Sqéwóthelwet, Rina Point-Bolton. Rina’s contributions, dedication, and presence have left a lasting mark on our workplace and on the many people who had the privilege of working alongside her.
She will be remembered not only for her professionalism and commitment, but also for the kindness, generosity, and integrity she brought to her work and relationships. Rina was a trusted advisor and mentor who skillfully wove and nurtured First Nations culture into her work, helping it grow and thrive within the organizations and communities she served. As a respected matriarch and Knowledge Keeper for the Stó:lō Nation and the Semá:th Nation, her teachings and values extended beyond her immediate community, strengthening connections with Kitsumkalum and others.
Rina was a strong and compassionate supporter of those around her, offering guidance, encouragement, and mentorship. Her influence was especially profound in the Terrace area, where she played a key role in helping to change and improve the education system to better support First Nations students, families, and communities. Her impact lives on through the projects she shaped, the standards she set, and the many lives she touched.
Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. We honor Rina’s life and legacy with gratitude and deep respect. She will not be forgotten.
Hakhoksgit Łoomsk,
Kitsumkalum
