OVERVIEW
In response to the mental health and toxic drug crisis, this service aims to urgently provide low
barrier mobile outreach services to the most vulnerable and marginalized populations in the
region struggling with addictions, mental health or homelessness. The goal is to reduce toxic drug
poisoning deaths (overdose deaths) and improve health by offering safe and accessible care
where people are.
Using a specialized mobile medical van, we will travel to shelters, encampments and other
locations as needed to provide holistic and multidisciplinary care from a team which includes
doctors, nurses, social workers, peer workers, a cultural navigator and a mental health and
substance use clinician. Services provided will include primary care, wound care, sexual and
reproductive health services and addictions care – including helping individuals access harm
reduction and overdose reversal supplies, and detox and treatment centres.
