Do Your Part Recycling and RDKS is making changes to the curbside recycling.

Re: Bag-Free Recycling Collection in Kitsumkalum.

This letter is to serve as a notice regarding changes to curbside collection of recycling. Effective November 29th, 2021, we will be moving to bag-free recycling collection. We will now be requiring residents to place their clean recyclable materials directly into the bin.

The reason for this change is to help minimize the volume of single-use plastics generated in the region, and to align more closely with the City of Terrace’s collection program. Bag-free recycling collection is also in-line with Recycle BC program requirements. Recycle BC is the Stewardship responsible for residential printed paper and packaging recycling in BC, and the RDKS has been working towards onboarding our curbside collection to their program – a move that will reduce costs.

Please ensure your recyclables are placed bag-free in a secure, lidded collection container for your scheduled recycling collection the week of November 29. Clear bags may still be used for additional recycling when you have more than a bin-full. There will continue to be no limit on the amount of recycling you may set out on collection day.
