The Canadian Armed Forces Aboriginal Summer Programs are fast approaching. The original deadline for application submission was in March, however applications are still being accepted. If you are interested please apply as soon as possible.
Information on both the Bold Eagle (geared towards the Army) and the Raven (geared towards the Navy) programs:
- These programs are open to any Indigenous person who is a Canadian Citizen, 17 years of age by the time the program starts (can apply at 16), and must have 6 Grade 10 credits completed by the time the program starts (can be in Grade 10 right now).
- Both the Bold Eagle and Raven programs are 6 weeks in length that will run from approximately July 5th to August 14th this year (dates to be confirmed)
- Bold Eagle takes place in Wainwright, Alberta, while Raven takes place in Esquimalt, British Columbia
- These courses are designed to provide basic military training, leadership training, as well as cultural awareness
- The first week of each course is taught by Elders
- All expenses including travel, meals, and accommodations will be borne by the Canadian Armed Forces
- Upon completion of the course, participants will receive $3,500 as well as a possibility of receiving Grade 12 credits
- Upon completion, participants will have the option to join the Canadian Armed Forces in either the Reserve Force or the Regular Force

A few tips when applying:
- When the question, “What is your Canadian Armed Forces Component of Interest” comes up, please select “Reserve Force”
- When the question, “Which sub-component of the Reserve” comes up, please select “Primary Reserve”
- When the option comes to choose between “Officer” and “Non-Commissioned Member”, please select “Non-Commissioned Member”
- Under the “Entry Plan” drop-down menu, please select “CF Aboriginal Entry Plan”
