Pontoon Creek Wildfire Information
On the evening of July 15, 2024, the RDKS was informed by BC Wildfire Service about the
Pontoon Creek Wildfire #R50969, located near the south end of Kitsumkalum Lake.
Crews are currently working on site. Campgrounds in the area are inaccessible until further notice,
including the Hart Farm Recreation Site, Kitsumkalum Provincial Park (Goat Creek), Red Sand
Lake Recreation Site, and Ackerman Point Recreation Site. We remind the public to please stay
out of the area and let the crews do their work.

Terms to note in the event of a wildfire: - Evacuation Alert: Be ready to leave on short notice.
- Evacuation Order: You are at risk. Leave the area immediately.
- Evacuation Rescinded: All is currently safe; you can return home.
