Summertime Student Opportunity at Kitsumkalum Sawmills
Summer 2025
What are we looking for?
A youth, aged 16/17, is still in high school that would like to mentor with our senior accountant
at the mill. Interested in administration and/or accounting, this could be what you’re looking
for.
- Starting July 2 or July 7th, negotiable
- minimum of 280 hours through the summertime (rate disclosed during interview)
- These hours can also contribute towards a couple of credits for graduation. (you must declare that at the high school)
Job duties
- 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, 5 days per week, with 1 hour off for lunch from 12:00-1:00 PM. (35-hour work week)
- The last day of work provided is Aug 29th, 2025
- Filing of misc. invoices received, which includes cleaning up of a couple of years of bulk files
- Office reception: interacting with the public as they come to the office
- Entering time for mill security personnel on a spreadsheet, and emailing to our Senior accountant bi-weekly
- Depending on skill set, entering some data into our administration program, which issues out pay advise
- Sorting through boxes of files, and keeping files 7 years and newer, and disposing old files.
- Rooms of files to go through!
- One daily tour of the site facility, where data must be entered into a book for fire
prevention - Other duties that might arise from time to time.
This is a BC government funded program, some basic information will require entering on a form, which is sent to the enrollment program.
All training is provided towards a successful summer of employment.
