Ratification Vote for Kitsumkalum Constitution and the Kitsumkalum Treaty

The Kitsumkalum Ratification Committee advises that a Ratification Vote to determine if Eligible Voters* approve
the Kitsumkalum Constitution and the Kitsumkalum Treaty: A Living Agreement will take place on Saturday,
November 1, 2025. The Rules of Procedure for the Ratification Vote are available for review at Home – Kitsumkalum Treaty Information Source.

*An individual is eligible to vote if that individual has been placed on the Official Voters List or has submitted a completed enrolment application to the Kitsumkalum Enrolment Committee, and provides evidence satisfactory to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) or Deputy Electoral Officer that the individual will be at least 18 years of age on or before November 1, 2025.


HOW YOU CAN VOTE

Due to the labour disruption at Canada Post, mail-in ballot packages will not be mailed to voters. Instead, Voter Instruction Packages with information on how to vote, including PINs for electronic voting, will be couriered (where courier service and valid addresses are available) to individuals whose names appear on the Official Voters List on October 7, 2025. Voter Instruction Packages will also be emailed to individuals whose names appear on the Official Voters List beginning on October 20, 2025.

ONLINE OR BY TELEPHONE – Online and telephone voting opens October 20, 2025, at 10:00am PT. If you choose to vote online or by telephone, you must vote no later than 8:00 pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

IN PERSON – The Ratification Vote takes place Saturday, November 1, 2025, between 10:00 am and 8:00 pm at: ‘Na Aksa Gyilak’yoo School, 3515 Kalum Quarry Access Road, Terrace, BC, V8G 0C8. If you choose to vote in person, please bring government-issued photo identification to the polls.

BY MAIL – Due to the labour disruption at Canada Post, voting by mail-in ballot is not available.

Helpline Hours: Weekdays from October 20-31, 2025, from 10:00am – 8:00pm PT, and Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 10:00am – 8:00pm PT.

You must only vote once – either online, by telephone, or in person.

The following ballot questions will be asked of persons eligible to vote:

Do you approve the Kitsumkalum Constitution dated June 24, 2025?
The Kitsumkalum Constitution is available at Home – Kitsumkalum Treaty Information Source.

Do you approve the Kitsumkalum Treaty: A Living Agreement dated June 20, 2025?
The Kitsumkalum Treaty, Appendices and Atlas are available at Home – Kitsumkalum Treaty Information Source.

Copies of documents are also available, upon request, from the Kitsumkalum Treaty Office.


OFFICIAL VOTERS LIST: Once enrolled, the names of Eligible Voters will be added to the Official Voters List, which will be updated on an ongoing basis. The Official Voters List for the Ratification Vote is available online at https://www.kitsumkalumtreaty.ca and at the Kitsumkalum Treaty Office. Only the ballots of individuals on the Official Voters List will be counted for the purpose of the Ratification Vote.
