January 2, 2021

The New Year is upon us, we send well wishes to all our members.

With COVID-19 numbers increasing fast in the neighbouring communities, it’s a fact that we have confirmed cases in the surrounding area.

We have possible exposures in our community of Kitsumkalum, at the Kalum Rock Quarry,  Kitsumkalum Tempo, and Kitsumkalum Treaty office.

We are asking people to self-monitor, limit their movements and stay within their bubble,
limited to only family members in your direct household. We continue to support those who are self-isolating.

If you have symptoms, please call 811 and your family doctor. If you think you might have been exposed we ask you to self-monitor! It can take up to 14 days before symptoms show.

We are taking extreme caution and preventative measures, rather than being reactive. The House of Sim-oi-Ghets Gift Store, Kitsumkalum Tempo, Headstart Daycare and, ‘Na Aksa Gyilak’yoo School, will remain closed and will be re-evaluated on January 12, 2021.  COVID-19 is not new and we’ve all been dealing with it for most of 2020. We ask all community members to continue being safe, wash their hands, wear masks when in public, stay within their direct household bubble and be kind.

Sincerely,

Kitsumkalum Leadership,
Kitsumkalum Emergency Response Team,
Kitsumkalum Health Centre
