Confirmed COVID Cases in Kitsumkalum

Kitsumkalum Health was contacted by Northern Health this week about two confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Kitsumkalum community.

Kitsumkalum Health would like to remind the community that we are still following Provincial Health Orders.

• Non-essential travel advisory
• Socialize with your household only
• Masks mandatory in indoor public places
• No events or gatherings
• Social distance
• Wash and sanitize your hands

The vaccination roll-out is ahead of schedule in BC; please stay updated on when you will be eligible to receive yours by going to www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/vaccine/plan.

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, you can still be a COVID-19 carrier and pass the infection on to others. It will take about two weeks after getting the first dose to build immunity to the virus. If you are exposed to someone with COVID-19 before or during this time, you may not yet be fully protected, so you can still get COVID-19.

Vaccinated or not, please watch for symptoms of the virus – new or worsening cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, temperature equal to or over 38°C, feeling feverish, chills, fatigue or weakness, muscle or body aches, new loss of smell or taste, headache, gastrointestinal symptoms (abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting), feeling very unwell. Please call the Northern Health Virtual Clinic and Info Line if you experience any of these symptoms: 1-844-645-7811

Stay informed on the Provincial Health Orders and read full details at www2.gov.bc.ca and our website www.kitsumkalum.com. Watch for updates through our E-News (subscribe by emailing info (at) kitsumkalum (dot) com), and social media pages – @Kitsumkalum on Facebook and Twitter.
